Dufry extends Venetian Macau contract

Swiss travel retailer Dufry has extended its contract with the Sands China Group for its Atrium store in the Macau Venetian hotel and gaming resort.

This allows Dufry to manage the 2000sqm store through to the end of 2024.

Meanwhile, it has unveiled plans for a full refurbishment for the store, in Shoppes at Venetian, Sands Shoppes on the Cotai Strip. With an improved layout, the store will introduce more brands. The Venetian has the most visitors of the Sands portfolio of five resorts in Macau, recording 74 million visitors last year.

Run by Dufry since the resort opened in 2007, the Atrium is the largest multi-category shop in the Macau Venetian. The redevelopment work is scheduled to be fully completed in the next six months, and the outlet’s main focus will be on fragrances and cosmetics, supported by other key categories including fashion accessories, luxury products, foods and confectionery.

Dominating the space will be the beauty area, with new brands being introduced including Giorgio Armani, Jo Malone London, La Prairie and Tom Ford. Other categories will also be revitalised with new brands and more defined “zones”.

In the food category, the design details will reflect elements of Venetian style and architecture. Macau specialities will be offered alongside international brands.

“The extensive redevelopment of this store fits perfectly Dufry’s ongoing commitment to growth in Asia, following the opening of our 2600sqm Temptation store in Macau’s Parisian Resort last year,” says Dufry division CEO Andrea Belardini.
