Marie France Van Damme popping up in Florida

Hong Kong-based designer Marie France Van Damme is opening a pop-up store in Miami Beach, Florida, offering her luxury resort, swim and ready-to-wear styles.

Launching on Wednesday, the Bal Harbour Shops pop-up continues until June 17.

Between the Atlantic Ocean and Biscayne Bay, Bal Harbour Shops offers two floors of boutiques and restaurants in a tropical garden setting lined with palm trees. It offers such brands as Alexander McQueen, Chanel, Gucci, Oscar de la Renta, Prada, Stella McCartney and Tory Burch, with Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue as anchors.

On the second floor next to Saks Fifth Avenue, the 1000sqft (90sqm) pop-up shop will offer Marie France Van Damme’s exclusive collections including day dresses and evening wear, resort wear, bathing suits and caftans.

“Miami is a vibrant fashion capital,” says Van Damme. “Like me, our customer travels around the world, and she needs to find things that will look beautiful during the day as well as at night, from the beach to a cocktail or dinner.”

She says it has always been her dream to open a store at Bal Harbour Shops. “We have many clients in Miami and will now be able to provide an exceptional environment to present our latest collection.”

The boutique will feature teak wood, bronze panels and embossed crocodile leathers with luxurious textiles and finishes that can be found in her home as well as her flagships in Hong Kong and London.

To celebrate the opening, the store will host a series of special events and introduce an in-store campaign photographed in Hong Kong by Herbert Ypma. The pop-up is a lead-up to the designer presenting her 2019 collection during Miami Swim Week in July.

The brand launched its first US boutique, at The Peninsula Beverly Hills in Los Angeles, in September, and has just opened its tenth store, in Marrakech, Morocco.
