Vietnam’s Wrap & Roll changes paying off

The company that runs Vietnamese cuisine restaurant chain Wrap & Roll has changed its name to Chao Do (Red Wok) nearly a year after a capital injection of US$7 million from Mekong Capital.

Since the investment, the chain has undergone major changes in its systems and menus, resulting in sales soaring 20 per cent for each outlet.

Its board of directors is unchanged, except Tran Thi Lan Anh has become general director, replacing co-founder Nguyen Thi Kim Oanh, who is now chairman with a 19.4 per cent stake in the business.

Established in 2006, Wrap & Roll has pioneered healthy Vietnamese traditional food in a convenience restaurant format. It now has 12 Wrap & Roll outlets in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, plus four franchise locations in Singapore.

There is also a Cuon Viet by Wrap & Roll outlet inside Co-opmart Quang Trung supermarket in Ho Chi Minh City. This opened last month and offers more traditional dishes for local customers.

Chao Do plans expansion this year with a new concept restaurant chain to target a different segment of the market in Vietnam.
