Celebrity chef Jason Wang has joined Link Asset Management to launch Souper Kitchen this month to serve soup made of surplus ingredients.

With the aim of promoting “food wise” culture, Souper Kitchen features four gourmet soups from Wang using surplus food collected from Link fresh markets and other fresh ingredients.

The kitchen opens at four Link malls and fresh markets across three weekends. Food Angel will receive the proceeds from the soup sales.

Surplus food is a mounting issue in Hong Kong, with more than 3300 tonnes of it heading to landfills daily, says Link, which has been encouraging its fresh-market tenants to donate unsold food ingredients. Food Angel collects the ingredients from 30 Link fresh markets five days a week to prepare nutritious lunch boxes for distribution to people in need.

Since 2016, Link Together initiatives have committed around HK$3 million to support Food Angel’s food-rescue program.

Showbiz celebrities will host the Souper Kitchen as it tours Temple Mall, Lei Yue Mun Plaza and Butterfly Market.
