Fila China supersizes its Shanghai flagship

Fila China has relaunched its flagship store in Shanghai as its largest retail space in Greater China.

The upgraded global sportswear brand’s venue in the Mosaic Shanghai mall on East Nanjing Road now covers 867sqm on the two lower levels of the seven-storey retail centre. A celebration to mark its opening featured music and dance performances with an appearance by Hong Kong actor/singer Hawick Lau.

Owned by Pradera Retail Asia, the mall itself is undergoing a business upgrade. In February, Pradera launched M-Square, a themed area in the mall targeting young customers. It was previously Yong An (Wing On) department store.

Fila’s new store was designed to complement the building’s historic architecture, including a main space on the first floor featuring high windows and decor of white marble and glass. The second floor is geared toward families and younger customers, offering the Fila Kids brand as well as Fila Fusion, a collection of limited-edition footwear, apparel, music and video games.

Fila originally opened the store in December 2013 as its first flagship in Asia, covering 303sqm. Chaired by Yoon-Soo Yoon, the sports casualwear company with origins in Italy was bought out by Fila Korea in 2007.

Pradera Retail Asia, which provides asset-management services, is a JV between between Pradera and Macquarie Retail Real Estate Management, an arm of Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets (Hong Kong).
