Starbucks China welcomes pets in new outlets

Customers are allowed to take their pets to two new Starbucks China coffee outlets.

In the cities of Chengdu and Guangzhou, the cafes feature a menu specially designed for pets with such offerings as the “puppucino”, made with sweet cream, and the “Zero-Shot Americano”, which is iced/ambient. The outlets also plan pet-friendly events.

Mintel research shows that Chinese highly value their pets’ companionship, especially those with a dog or cat, considering them as part of their closest family. They even want to share new experiences and go to new places with their pets. The research shows that 32 per cent of Chinese pet owners have paid more to take their companions to pet-friendly venues such as hotels, cinemas and restaurants.
