Jollibee Canada planning 100-store growth

Filipino fast-food chain Jollibee Canada will have 100 new stores in the next five years.

Jollibee’s CEO Ernesto Tanmantiong made the projection to the CityNews TV show in Toronto, where the company opened a store in April. It also has two stores in Winnipeg.

Despite it being two months since the Toronto store opened, it still attracts queues.

Jollibee opened its first restaurant in Quezon City, Manila, in the 1970s, and Tanmantiong also credits chef Anthony Bourdain, who has just died, for the Bee’s success. He says Bourdain was a fan of Jollibee spaghetti. “He loved Filipinos, and Filipinos loved him.”

While there are no details yet about the Canadian expansion, Jollibee is seeking franchisees.
