Tumi HKIA store fulfills brand’s travel retail expansion focus

Premium travel brand Tumi has opened its first owner-operated store at Hong Kong International Airport.

Located on Level 6 of the East Hall at Terminal 1, the new Tumi HKIA store is described by the brand as “a significant step towards fulfilling its travel retail expansion strategy”.

The store offers products exclusive to the airport location and in-store interactive customer experience features, including product personalisation.

“HKIA is not only a transport hub for millions of travelers, but also serves as one of the city’s premier shopping destinations,” said Adam Hershman, Tumi’s GM for greater China, regional distribution and travel retail.

“With a new look, new experience and exclusive offerings, the Tumi HKIA store is the latest exciting milestone in our regional development.”

Guests of the Tumi HKIA store can capture their “Tumi moments” with a photo booth station to take a custom-designed photo and receive a printout and/or a digital version by email as a keepsake of their visit. The momento will feature illustrated Hong Kong-inspired frames by local urban sketchers, Rob Sketcherman, Vanessa Leung, Ben Luk, Alvin Wong, Gary Yeung, Magi Chen and Elena Klimova.

A personalisation station will provide quick, on-the-spot monogramming of customer purchases, via leather patches on their bags or luggage tags, and featuring their initials or a fun emoticon for a bespoke touch.

Tumi HKIA exclusive

To mark the Tumi HKIA store’s opening, the brand has introduced items exclusive to the location – a Just In Case tote and backpack. The ultra-lightweight nylon Just In Case backpack and tote can be folded flat for packing in a case. They are styled in modern neutral colours navy and cinnamon and feature limited-edition Hong Kong illustrations.

Meanwhile, the latest edition of Tumi’s Voyageur collection has gone on sale at the Tumi HKIA store ahead of its global launch on July 31.

The Voyageur Novelty line in green camo and black camo colourways features chains and studs, giving an edgier look and what Tumi describes as “a fashion-forward touch” to the collection.
