Cosmetics tops shopping lists of Chinese tourists

Online travel service platform ly.com reports cosmetics topped the list of outbound Chinese tourists’ shopping priorities during the recent national holiday.

Practical goods and local specialty foods were also among the top three National Day spends, forgoing spending on items that have proved popular in previous years, including watches, household appliances, rice cookers and toilet covers.

China’s large-scale global shopping platforms, duty-free shops and free trade zones are considered factors in the change of spending habits, according to the report.

Chinese tourists from China’s major metropolitan centers favoured destinations such as Thailand, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Russia, Canada, the US, France, the UK and Italy for the seven-day holiday period.
