Plaza Singapura unveils a digital experience this month, inviting shoppers to test their bowling skills in an interactive digital bowling alley.
The mall will also host a digital-imaging carnival in collaboration with Sony and reveal three vibrant art murals by visual communications design students in its inaugural partnership with Raffles Design Institute.
From today until November 1, a 20-metre-long digital bowling alley will pop up outside Sephora on level 1 of the Plaza Singapura extension. The alley is reactive to the player’s actions and the gameplay with the use of programmable colourful lighting. The bowling alley also doubles as a backdrop for Instagramming.
To play a game, shoppers must spend a minimum of $30 in a single receipt at a Plaza Singapura shop. They will get two attempts at the alley to win instant prizes from the mall’s tenants, including Fayth, Sephora, Laneige, 4 Fingers Crispy Chicken and Eggs ‘n Things.
Shoppers who spend a minimum of $500 (in a maximum three receipts) can win prizes such as a Casio G-Shock watch (worth $189), a $50 Muji gift card or a $30 Starbucks gift card.
In collaboration with Sony, Plaza Singapura will hold a photo contest from today through to November 4 alongside the first Digital Imaging Carnival on level 1 of the main atrium.
The photo contest aims to increase shoppers’ engagement with the mall and, at the same time, reminisce how Plaza Singapura has evolved with its shoppers over the years as the mall turns 44 this month.
Shoppers can participate in the contest by posting an image from the past or present on their Instagram account, depicting Plaza Singapura’s facade, or one of the art sculptures found at the mall, such as local artist Ng Eng Teng’s Wealth and Contentment in the 1980s, or the Yummy Jelly Babies. They must use the hashtag #SonyXPlazaSingapura and follow @PlazaSingapura and @SonySingapore on Instagram to qualify.
All shortlisted entries will be flashed on a digital screen from today. Winners of the photo contest will be announced on November 12 via Instagram with the top prize Sony’s 6000L Mirrorless Camera, and 10 consolation prizes of Sony Alpha Collectibles, comprising travel adaptor, water bottle and card holder.
Collaboration with Raffles Design Institute
Finally, Plaza Singapura has partnered with the Raffles Design Institute, where students from the department of visual communications design were invited to create a two-dimensional art mural, incorporating elements of Plaza Singapura’s heritage and uniqueness. Through this partnership, Plaza Singapura provides youths with not only a place they can express their creativity, but also get to showcase their artistic talents to members of the public.
The three murals selected will be unveiled at the centre during coming days.
