Fifty E-Mart Philippines stores planned under private labels

South Korean discount chain operator E-Mart is set to launch two of its private-label brands in the Philippines.

The firm has just signed with local retailer Robinsons Retail to open 50 E-Mart Philippines stores: 25 under its “No Brand” label and a further 25 under its “Scentence” banner. The stores are expected to launch by 2020. The firm’s move follows a sharp increase in global shipments this year.

A statement from E-Mart indicated that it will work with its partner to develop localised products for Southeast Asia in order to boost its competitiveness.

Robinsons currently operates 47 malls, 49 department stores, 130 supermarkets and around 3000 convenience stores in the Philippines.
