German retailer group Auchan has announced that it will not withdraw from the Chinese market.
The firm has decided to continue to explore opportunities in China, carrying out new in-depth retail integration. It has maintained a presence in the region since opening in Shanghai in 1999, and currently has 75 large stores as well as a boutique supermarket within the territory.
Its immediate plans for China include converting five South Chinese stores over to its RT-Mart model. Auchan’s Guangzhou Fafa Store, Dongguan Store, Zhaoqing Huaiji Store, Fujian Fuqing Store and Meizhou Xingning shop are expected to undergo the transition shortly.
