Uniqlo India steps up hiring ahead of launch

Japanese fashion brand Uniqlo is training Indian candidates for its store management programme in Japan.

The recruitment is in preparation for Uniqlo India’s first Delhi store, on track to open later this year.
“We are very excited about entering into India, and can confirm that Uniqlo is aiming to open its first store in India in Delhi-NCR in Fall 2019,” said a spokesperson for the Japanese-headquartered Uniqlo parent company Fast Retailing.

“In preparation for the opening, the company is now working at full speed in building up a team with various functions and levels, especially in recruiting local talents under its Uniqlo Manager Candidate (UMC) programme.”

The company is the latest major global single-brand retailer to launch in India under 100 per cent foreign direct investment. Other leading brands to open in the territory include H&M and Ikea.
