Tennis inspires Fred Perry x Margaret Howell Crossover Collection

Two British brands have collaborated to create the Fred Perry x Margaret Howell capsule collection of men’s and womenswear.

Made with reference to the very first tennis pieces in Fred Perry’s archive, Margaret Howell has created a monochrome collection in which British heritage meets contemporary design.

The Fred Perry x Margaret Howell went on sale at the freestanding Fred Perry stores in Causeway Bay and Tsim Sha Tsui this week.

“There’s something very rewarding for me to be collaborating with established British brand Fred Perry,” said Howell. “The white polo shirt and sounds of Wimbledon set firmly in my mind from distant sunny school days…”

Based on the original M3 Fred Perry Shirt – an enduring piece of British clothing – the garment has been refreshed in a fine pique that replicates the original fabric from the 1950s. Howell’s versions, one for men and one for women, have an angled placket, with lightweight fine ribbed collar and side splits finished with internal woven herringbone tape. The mother of pearl buttons have been taken from Howell’s main collection and feature throughout the collection.

Each piece in the collection is signed off with the original bespoke Laurel Wreath branding.
