27 Shou He Huo Restaurant opens in Beijing’s South Sanlitun

A new restaurant has opened in a distinctive 60s-era courtyard in Beijing’s South Sanlitun.

The 27 Shou He Huo noodle and skewers restaurant has launched in an inconspicuous 268sqm courtyard that was formerly an old state-run canteen enterprise, the appearance of which has been largely preserved, with the addition of new materials and design slogans to modernise its look.

New wall materials have been added while retaining the original concrete cast walls and stone particles as a whole. The interior preserves the venue’s formerly utilitarian look via stretches of exposed concrete, softened with a blend of concrete and stone to plaster walls and round out corners.

The 27 Shou He Huo restaurant was designed by local architecture and design firm DTZW.
