Gemfields takes ‘A Story in Every Gemstone’ to Asia

London-headquartered global supplier of responsibly-sourced, coloured gemstones, Gemfields, took “A Story in Every Gemstone” installation to Shanghai Exhibition Centre last week.

At the 7th edition of Art021 Shanghai Contemporary Art Fair from November 7-10, Gemfields featured larger-than-life ruby and emerald structures which visitors could step inside to experience a ‘world of rubies and emeralds’. A video filmed at a Gemfields mine was broadcast for the first time, illustrating gemstone discovery and the allure of these gems.

Gemfields produces around 25 per cent of the world’s emerald supply and around 50 per cent of the world’s ruby supply. It also owns the iconic Faberge business.

The mining company is targeting Chinese market as there is an increasing demand for coloured gemstones there, including Zambian emeralds and Mozambican rubies, the company said.

Art021 Shanghai Contemporary Art Fair was an opportunity for the brand to introduce its presence in the market.

Gemfields hopes to create a positive impact for countries and communities where coloured gemstones originate.
