The One Mall in Cambodia sets opening date
Construction work on Chinese-backed The One Mall in Cambodia is set to reach completion by mid-year after delays to its scheduled opening last December.
The mall is being built on a 12,000sqm site in Phnom Penh’s Tonle Bassac. Information about both the delay in construction and the value of the project have remained tightly kept by the firm.
A further 261,746sqm of retail space is expected to be built in Cambodia this year, according to a report in the Phnom Penh Post.
“Retail is currently making a strong foray into Cambodia, targeting Cambodians with good income and a need for better goods,” said Century 21 Mekong CEO Chrek Soknim. “Mall construction has not yet met the demand, and it will lead to more retail construction.”
“To date, we are heartened that The One Mall has received support from long-standing retail brands in the Kingdom,” said The One Mall management chairman Chris Wong. “The One Mall has a clear focus on offering different exposure to a social space where people spend their time experiencing, discovering and shopping.”
