German bike brand Bergamont opens Indian concept store I-Ride

German bike brand Bergamont has opened its first concept store ‘Bergamont I-Ride’ in Mumbai, India.

The launch of I-Ride store is the result of a partnership between Bergamont and a bike shop called The Cycle Worx. The new concept store offers a wide selection of bicycles from Bergamont to test, including a model designed for gravel and e-bikes.

“At least 50 per cent of the riders do not cycle after a few months of purchase of a bicycle and reasons vary from convenience to discomfort,” said Jaymin Shah, country manager at Scott Sports India. “We believe this often stems from buying the wrong product. And so, our Test Bike Programme has different modules to test out different bikes and choose the most compatible one.”

Bergamont also offers several activities for its customers, including an after-sales experience and the Bergamont I-Ride Challenge.

The launch of the new concept store is part of the company’s expansion plan in India. Owned by European multi-sport company Scott Sports, Bergamont aims to achieve 3200 units in the next two years.

“ A bicycle is now not only a lifestyle product but also an ideal last-mile commute. Electric mobility is a key piece of this puzzle and so we’ve also rolled out hybrid e-bikes recently”, said Jaymin Shah, country manager at Scott Sports India.

Launched in India in 2017, Bergamont operates stores in more than 45 cities across the country and plans to increase the number of I-Ride stores to 15 over the next three years.
