Natureland buys the DRx Group, plots expansion

Singaporean spa chain Natureland has acquired The DRx Group spa and personal health businesses, with plans to expand in Asia.

The purchase includes DRx Clinics, DRx Medispas, DRx Trichology Centres and Derma-Rx branded skincare and haircare product lines, serving clients throughout Southeast Asia.

Natureland currently operates seven outlets in locations within and outside of Singapore’s city centre.

“I have been a long-time patient of DRx since its early days, and when the opportunity came for us to be part of the DRx family, we didn’t hesitate,” said Natureland Care MD Fion Wu. “With this marriage, we may just have formed the largest aesthetics and wellness group in Singapore.”

“The DRx Group and Natureland make a good match,” said The DRx Group CEO Frank Thong. “In a merging aesthetics-wellness space, we naturally share many strategic and operational capabilities. The synergy will, without doubt, add immensely to DRx’s immediate business and future growth.”

With this venture, DRx is already making expansion plans with the opening of a new clinic in eastern Singapore next month.

Thong said the company noticed that during Singapore’s circuit breaker period, people travelled less for services and goods.

“Consumers preferred shopping nearer their homes, and we believe that this would be a preference that will prevail in a post-Covid-19 world.”
