Hong Kong jewellery veterans receive top JNA honours

Hong Kong jewellery veterans to receive top honours at JNA Awards

Hong Kong jewellery veterans, Lawrence Ma (above) and Kent Wong, have received Lifetime Achievement Awards, the JNA Awards 2020’s highest recognition.

Ma is CEO of Lee Heng Diamond Group, and Wong, MD of Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group. The honours not only recognise their contribution to Hong Kong’s jewellery industry but also to the global jewellery community.

“Lawrence and Kent are both legendary figures who have thrived through the many ups and downs of the jewellery industry in the last four decades,” said Latitia Chow, chairperson and founder of JNA Awards at Informa Markets, Jewellery.

She said both have dedicated their lives to finding new ways to create a richer, more sustainable and forward-thinking jewellery sector.

Lawrence Ma started his jewellery career 40 years ago. He founded MaBelle Jewelry in the early 1990s, marking “a turning point in the long-term vibrancy of Hong Kong’s diamond jewellery retailing industry”. Ma is a founding president and current chairman of the Diamond Federation of Hong Kong (DFHK).

Wong also has more than four decades of experience in the industry. He joined Chow Tai Fook in 1977, and has held the MD role since 2011. He has turned the business from a homegrown brand to a progressive enterprise with more than 4000 points of sale internationally.

“Kent and Lawrence have undoubtedly achieved commercial success for their respective organisations, but what makes them truly stand out are their tremendous contributions to the growth and prosperity of Hong Kong’s jewellery industry, all of which have had a massive impact and influence on jewellery hubs around the world,” Chow said.
