Super Nintendo unveils Japanese theme park

Universal Studios Japan has given guests a sneak peak of the new Super Nintendo theme park ahead of its opening.

The theme park will host an immersive Nintendo’s world with characters and adventures inspired from Nintendo fans’ favourite games, such as Mario Kart and Yoshi-themed rides and attractions, along with retail, restaurants and other attractions.

Visitors to the park will be given a Power-Up band which allows them to try virtual reality experiences, such as punch blocks and collect virtual coins as they would in video games. The theme park features a Bowser’s Castle, which houses the world’s first Mario Kart theme park ride. Guests will also experience the world’s first interactive ride with the Mario Kart theme park ride.

The Mario Kart: Koopa’s Challenge ride will see visitors racing in the Mario Kart universe and throwing shells to take out opponents. Meanwhile, Yoshi Adventure ride offers a treasure hunt with a view of the Mushroom Kingdom.

The Super Nintendo world theme park is scheduled to open to the public on February 4.
