AirAsia Food to expand delivery to Singapore

AirAsia’s food delivery service, AirAsia Food, is to expand its reach to Singapore, its first presence outside Malaysia.

The company aims to start its operations in the city next month. According to AirAsia, the commission rate will be 15 per cent, the lowest percentage in the city.

“Singapore is the most vibrant market in the region, if not globally,” said Tony Fernandes, CEO at AirAsia Group. “Our Allstars Delivery Squad has painted the town red in Malaysia and now we are ready to take on the streets of Singapore.

“Just as how we democratised air travel, AirAsia Food will democratise the food-delivery industry by providing value, simplicity and inclusivity for everyone.”

Besides food merchants, AirAsia Food is also calling on businesses in the beauty, cosmetics, fashion, fresh produce and hotel sectors as part of its e-commerce expansion plan in Singapore.

Launched last year in Malaysia, AirAsia provided delivery services to about 500 restaurants with approximately 15,000 orders in its first three months of its operation. The company is also planning to expand its service in other regions in Southeast Asia.
