Chinese transgender star the latest face of Dior fragrances

Chinese transgender star Jin Xing has been named as face of Dior fragrances J’adore, the brand has announced through its Weibo account.

As the face of J’adore, Jin Xing will be fronting marketing campaigns for the fragrance in China. In the video on Weibo, the 53-year-old star said she expressly supports women’s independence and values which J’adore tries to deliver.

“I only hope everyone can live as their own selves, this way we will make the world an abundant place,” Xing said in the video. “Do not compare yourself to others. Come up with your own way of thinking to create a colourful and varied world.”

A former male dancer and army colonel, Jin Xing was the first Chinese to publicly undergo sex reassignment surgery. Her art career took off in 2013 when she appeared in China’s first season of ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ as a judge. Since then, she has become a well-known TV host in China.

The appointment of Jin Xing as the ambassador of Dior fragrance campaign is considered a bold yet positive step for the transgender community, especially in China.
