Hyundai Group launches contactless store

Hyundai Group has teamed up with Amazon web service AWS to launch an unmanned convenience outlet called Uncommon Store in South Korea.

Located on the sixth floor of the newly-opened The Hyundai Seoul shopping complex, Uncommon Store features a futuristic shopping concept where technologies take over the operation.

To shop at the store, shoppers need to download an app to their phone to scan at the entrance barrier and to pay for their purchases by scanning QR codes. No cards or cash are accepted.

Designed by local architecture studio Atelier Archi@Mosphere, the 33sqm store’s interior features orange and silver colours with lighting carefully set up to create a dynamic and futuristic space.

Advanced technologies are implemented throughout the store to enhance and optimise customers’ experience. These devices include AI complex sensors, a cloud system and internet hyper-connections.
