Thai furniture retailer, Index Living Mall, is to return to Indonesia with two stores set to open later this year under a partnership with retail giant Mitra Adiperkasa (MAP).

The first store is set to open at Sogo Plaza Senayan next month with a 1524sqm floor space. The second, scheduled to open in November, will be located at Sogo Kota Kasablanka, occupying a 1365sqm space.

According to the company, about 70 per cent of the sales area will be dedicated to furniture, with the remainder for home furnishings and decorations.

“Index Living Mall has certainly strengthened MAP’s international brand portfolio,” said Arnolda Ratnawati Sidarta, as marketing director of Sogo Department Store Indonesia.

“We have more than 4.2 million MAP Club members, our great asset that will help Index Living Mall to meet the needs of lifestyle furniture and easier to reach Indonesia’s vast potential market, by providing direct services and communication to the membership network.”

As part of the chain’s expansion plan in Southeast Asia, the launch in Indonesia marks Index Living Mall’s eighth international market after Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Nepal, the Maldives and Pakistan.

Besides Indonesia, Index Living Mall will also launch its first store in Brunei Darussalam by the end of the year.

Mitra Adiperkasa, Indonesia’s largest retail group, operates more than 2300 outlets across fashion, sports, kids, F&B and department store sectors in 81 cities.
