South Korea-based F&B chain operator, SPC Group, is taking American fast-food restaurant chain Shake Shack into Malaysia with 10 stores slated to open by 2031.

Malaysia’s first Shake Shack restaurant is scheduled to launch next year. Malaysia also marks the sixth country Shake Shack has entered in Asia.

“With the SPC Group, we expect to have more than 45 Shake Shacks across Korea, Singapore, and Malaysia by 2031,” said Michael Kark, chief global licensing officer of Shake Shack.

The expansion plan in Malaysia will increase the number of contracted Shake Shacks with SPC Group to 45 by 2031. The South Korean retail giant currently operates 30 brands, including Paris Baguette, Paris Croissant, Passion 5, Coffee@Works, LaGrillia, Queens Park, Vera, Bizeun, and Glucksschwein, operating more than 7000 stores worldwide.

“SPC Group and Shake Shack have established a successful long-time partnership, bringing 28 Shacks to Korea and Singapore over the past five years,” said HeeSoo Hur, VP of SPC Group Korea, who has worked with Shake Shack since 2016.

“We are eager to deepen the relationship, bringing the brand mission to Stand for Something Good to Malaysia.”

Shake Shack has 350 stores worldwide.
