Reliance Brands has secured a long-term distribution deal to launch the Valentino label into India.

Under the partnership, Reliance Brands will open Valentino’s first store in Delhi this year, followed by a flagship store in Mumbai during the coming months. The Delhi store will be located in DLF Emporio, taking over a 162sqm space, while the Mumbai flagship will be home to the whole “Valentino universe”.

“The upcoming store opening represents a significant step in Valentino’s global strategy,” said Jacopo Venturni, CEO of Maison Valentino.

Reliance said the long-term agreement will allow brand presence through a renewed store concept geared toward adapting to the changes in the retail market.

“Valentino needs no introduction in India,” said Darshan Mehta, MD of Reliance Brands. “The partnership will help make the brand more accessible to its Indian customers and build a new tribe of Valentino connoisseurs.”

The partnership with Valentino follows Reliance Brands’ recent foray into the F&B sector under the partnership with the UK coffee chain Pret A Manger. Its sister company, Reliance Retail, earlier this month signed a franchise deal with American fashion brand Gap to distribute its products in India.

Founded in 1960 by Valentino Garavani and Giancarlo Giammetti, Valentino has been controlled by Mayhoola for Investments LLC since 2012. Valentino has a presence in more than 114 locations through 212 Valentino directly-operated boutiques and more than 1300 points of sale.
