Indian chef Gagfan Anand has launched his permanent restaurant in Singapore, after opening a pop-up there last year.

The theme of the restaurant – Ms Maria & Mr Singh – is the romance between a Mexican woman and an Indian man. It is situated at 43 Craig Road and follows the original design of the Ms Maria & Mr Singh restaurant in Bangkok.

With orange and blue colours and neon lights, the decor was inspired by the colours of the cities of Oaxaca and Jaipur in India. The area aims to recreate the ambience of the casa (home) where Ms Maria and Mr Singh first met.

The original restaurant, which opened in the Thai capital two years ago, serves both Singapore-specific cuisines as well as meals from the original Bangkok menu.

This is also Gagfan Anand’s first overseas outpost since the Covid-19 outbreak, under a collaboration with The Proper Concepts Collective, a local hospitality firm, and a design studio Only Way Is Up (OWIU).
