L’Oreal Travel Retail Asia Pacific has opened 19 new beauty stores in the newly-launched duty-free shopping complex Haikou International Duty Free, including the group’s newest addition Prada Fragrances.

The portfolio includes Armani Beauty, Helena Rubinstein, Maison Margiela, Shu Uemura, Urban Decay, Skinceuticals, La Roche-Posay and Valentino Beauty. The beauty company said all store counters were constructed using eco-certified and recyclable materials.

“All pop-ups and future retail animations will be built on L’Oreal’s Eco-Design Golden Rules where certified recycled FSC, PESC, and mono materials are optimally-weighed, made redressable, separable for disassembly, and old fixtures from previous animations to be reused,” the company said.

Haikou International Duty-Free City opened its doors to the public in October in Hainan’s port city of Haikou, China, marking the world’s largest duty-free store to date. The shopping complex takes over 280,000sqm of the city’s west coast and is home to more than 800 retail brands.

“As L’Oreal Travel Retail and China Duty Free Group, we share the same passion to provide beauty for all travellers,” said Vincent Boinay, president of L’Oreal Travel Retail. “Haikou International Duty Free Shopping Complex is a symbol of 20 years of a great collaboration.”

“These boutiques will certainly give our travellers many reasons to visit and repeat,” said Charles Chen, president of China Duty Free Group.
