Hong Kong’s Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group has appointed Annie Wong as the company’s new chief operating officer.

In her new role, Wong will oversee the development of end-to-end value chain efficiencies, strategic planning as well as product and inventory management.

The new COO will also be responsible for streamlining the group’s process to “capture synergies and optimise operational and cost-effectiveness”.

“Drawing on Annie’s broad experience in management consulting, operations and executive leadership, coupled with her enthusiasm and commitment to success, she is a pivotal force in the group’s transformation journey,” said Sonia Cheng, vice chairman of Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group.

Wong joined the Hong Kong jewellery giant last year as a business consultant. Before Chow Tai Fook, Wong held several leadership roles in retail companies such as Lane Crawford Joyce Group and PVH Asia Pacific.

Last June, Chow Tai Fook was reported to log a takeover bid to take control of Hong Kong fashion retailer Giordano. However, the deal collapsed two months later as the group failed to reach the shareholder threshold set out in the offer documents despite shareholders being given extra time to accept the offer.
