Apple South Korea will open its fifth retail store this week – in the Gangnam District – as part of its strategy to deepen its influence in the Samsung-dominated market.

Apple Gangnam is scheduled to open its doors to the public tomorrow (March 31), offering Apple’s full range of products and services.

The new store features a double-height facade with a mirrored coating treatment that blurs the transition from top to bottom and shifts in appearance during different times of day, or seasons.

Running on 100 per cent renewable energy and carbon neutral, Apple Gangnam features an interior designed with materials sourced from the region,  including the tables, wood feature wall, logo, facade glass, stone walls, and flooring.

Apple Gangnam employs about 150 retail team members who speak a variety of languages.

Visitors can discover features on the latest Apple products at the roundtable setting designed for ‘Today at Apple’ sessions.

“Since opening our first store five years ago, the response from our customers in South Korea has been overwhelmingly positive,” said Patrick Schuerpf, director of retail business in Asia.

The opening of the Gangnam store follows the launch of Apple Pay service in the country last week.

Apple entered South Korea in 2018 with its first store located on Gangnam’s Garosugil street. Since then, the company has opened more Seoul stores in Yeouido, Jamsil and its largest yet in the country in Myeongdong.
