One World Duty Free (ODF), a Singapore-based omnichannel retailer, has collaborated with Port City Colombo to open Sri Lanka’s first downtown duty-free store.

The two companies say their partnership will bring to life their shared vision, creating a framework for ODF to develop Port City Colombo into a preeminent global duty-free retail destination.

“In our partners at Port City Colombo, we recognise a level of ambition which is perfectly aligned with One World Duty Free’s game-changing approach to duty-free retail,” said Priyath B. Wickrama, director general of the Colombo Port City Economic Commission.

“The opportunity to showcase our credentials on the world stage and contribute to the creation of a landmark destination in Asia is a key milestone in One World Duty Free’s journey of progressive expansion across Asia.”

ODF’s first retail store outside of Singapore will be located within the US$7 million Port City Duty Free Mall, a 7000sqm shopping destination that opened in the first quarter of this year at Port City Colombo, and will contain 1250sqm with a diverse variety of brands in beauty, wellness, wine and spirits, and fashion.

Construction of the ODF store is set to begin in the middle of this year, with the expectation it will be trading by the year’s end. ODF said its Port City Colombo store will provide visitors with a purpose-built shopping experience that will be enhanced by the company’s revolutionary approach to smart retail.
