Shinsegae Group’s department store division has introduced a multilingual wholesale platform dubbed ‘Kfashion82’ for small and medium-sized local fashion labels to expand overseas.

The South Korean retailer said the number 82 in the name represents South Korea’s country code. The company will work closely with logistics companies with experience in distribution across Europe and Asia.

The platform ran a beta trial for two months before its launch with 100 brands. The company aims to promote K-fashion internationally through exhibitions and fashion shows in the future.

The country’s exports of garments to the UK, the US, France and Italy reached US$345.6 million last year, a 50.3 per cent year-on-year leap, according to the Korean Federation of Textile Industries.

Earlier this year, Shinsegae’s fashion retail arm, Shinsegae International, appointed Gucci’s former chief financial officer William Kim as its new CEO, after securing the distribution right of Laura Mercier and haircare brand Davines.
