New York-based streetwear brand Extra Butter has launched its first international presence with a brick-and-mortar location in Mumbai, India.
The new site, located in Mumbai’s Lower Parel, has an open and airy layout with theatre-inspired touches. It is designed by interior designer Sarah Sham of Essajees Atelier, and pays homage to the brand’s New York locations while being inspired by India’s craftsmen and creatives.
According to Hypebeast, Extra Butter co-founders Ankur and Nick Amin see India a significant market for the brand because of its variety and since its population is relatively new to street and sneaker culture.
The store stocks a variety of footwear brands including New Balance, Adidas, Asics, and Birkenstock.
Extra Butter has also released a collection with the brand’s “Official Selection” logo and old-school-inspired Bombay graphics.
The brand will ship across India via its regional website, and it is planning to add stores in both Delhi and Bangalore in the coming years.
Launched in 2007, Extra Butter has two stores in New York City.
