Scottish whisky brand The Macallan has opened a premium flagship concept store – The Macallan House – in Hong Kong’s Central district.

Located on Stanley Street, The Macallan House Hong Kong covers 6000sqft across three floors. The store includes an exclusive retail space, a dining and exhibition area, a private engagement and entertainment lounge, a high-end bar, and a showroom.

The opening marks the start of the company’s global expansion plan, said Jaime Martin, MD of North Asia of Edrington – parent of The Macallan. It is the first of 22 scheduled to open this year.

“This is a long-term investment for the brand, and it comes with historical roots; Hong Kong is the first city where we introduced The Macallan to Asia many years ago, added Martin.

“It is a huge investment that shows the company’s confidence in Hong Kong’s global status, and adds a premium choice for local whisky lovers and tourists from around the globe,” said Alpha Lau, Hong Kong’s director-general of investment promotion.

The Macallan was founded by Alexander Reid in Moray, Scotland, in 1824. Edrington acquired the company from Highland Distillers in 1999.
