Luxury bags retailer Serapian has opened its first flagship store in Tokyo, called Villa Serapian Ginza.

The 200sqm store has two floors and is a reference to Serapian’s Milanese headquarters of Villa Mozart.

It also features made-in-Italy marble mosaic flooring, Dedar textile-covered walls, and a Carlo Scarpa chandelier.

Its staircase features De Castilli’s metal mosaic sculpture and black and white photographs narrating the history of the Serapian family including Stefano Serapian, who founded the company in 1928.

The windows display artworks by Venetian artist Lorenzo Vitturi, who collaborated with Murano artisans.

The brand also partnered with silk company Chiso to create a limited-edition capsule collection that mixes Italian expertise and Japanese tradition.

Customers of the store may choose bespoke bags from more than 50 colours of nappa, which may be combined through Serapian’s Mosaico leather weaving process.
