MCM has launched its new collaboration with Harper Collective, introducing a line of sustainable travel luggage made from reclaimed materials.

The collaboration incorporates elements from Harper Collective’s “Ghost” collection, inspired by discarded fishing nets used in production.

It also features MCM’s signature cognac Visetos wrapping and lightweight aluminium handles, recycled quilted nylon, upcycled webbing straps, and luggage tags made from upcycled Maxi Visetos material.

According to the label, no two pieces are exactly alike due to their upcycled nature.

Harper Collective is a luggage brand founded in the UK by Jaden Smith and Sebastian Manes. It focuses on turning reclaimed materials into luxury products.

The co-founders said: “Sustainable luggage is the future of travel,” highlighting a shared vision with MCM.

Harper Collective’s hard-shell rolling travel cases are crafted from a blend of 70 per cent recycled ocean plastic, including fishing nets and post-consumer plastic.

MCM approached Harper Collective after being impressed by their project launch at Selfridges last year.

Sung-Joo Kim, chairperson, MCM, emphasised the importance of changing consumer behaviour through thoughtful product development.

“Buying less and buying better is a philosophy that we subscribe to, encouraging our tribe of 21st-century digital nomads to do so,” declared the chairman.

“By taking a smart approach to our collection development, we introduce a sustainable lifestyle presentation through season-less designs.
