Fine jewellery maker De Beers is expanding into India with 15 Forevermark stores opening this year.
Amit Pratihari, MD, De Beers India, said the plan is to establish 100 retail stores by the end of 2030, with a revenue target of US$1 million.
“We are investing in retail through Forevermark jewellery brand,” he continued. “We will open 15 stores, eight in Delhi and the rest in Mumbai this year.”
The first Forevermark retail outlet is expected to open in June or July, but final details have yet to be confirmed.
In addition to the jeweller’s expansion in the country, Pratihari said the natural diamond industry is working with the Gems and Jewellery Exports Promotion Council (GJEPC) on the need for certification to differentiate synthetic diamonds from natural.
“We need to protect the interest of consumers,” he added. “The company is working closely with the government in this regard.”
