Philippines-based supermarket operator Puregold Price Club has bought nine rival stores in Nueva Ecija and other provinces north of Manila. Massive 7-Eleven rollout planned

Listed Philippine Seven Corporation (PSC), the local licensee of 7-Eleven Convenience Stores, will boost its capital spend this year by 50 per cent to expand its network. The company says it ended 2014 with 1282 stores – 273 more than at the same time a year earlier. It opened 286 and closed 13 during the year. SM expands supermarkets

The Philippines’ SM Group is boosting its retail unit by adding 10 new ‘Savemore’ supermarkets before the year ends. That would take the count to 112, says SM Supermarkets president Joey Mendoza. He said the expansion is aimed at banking in on the country’s steady population growth and Filipinos’ shifting buying preferences. SM also operates SM Supermarket and SM Hypermarket brand stores.
