While many Japanese were queueing on the opening of the newest Uniqlo store in the Ginza, UK retailer Ted Baker was creating a buzz in the other ritzy Tokyo shopping strip Omotesando with its first Japan store opening. The new Ted Baker flagship is spread across two floors with a gross area of around 5750 sqft. The fitout uses aged communication devices from the 1950s such as radios, typewriters and telephones to highlight its ‘analog meets digital’ concept. “We are very excite

“We hope that Tokyo shoppers will be enchanted by both the store and the collections and walk away as loyal Ted Baker devotees.”
Interiors are embellished with silk panels, bronze and customised textured wallpaper, brown glass pendant lights and limestone floors.
One of the store’s attraction is a London-style black cab where customers can pose and take photos.
And if customers want to listen to messages from Ted Baker’s designer himself, all they need to do is to plug the cables on the switchboard found on the staircase heading to the basement floor.
Ted Baker store offers wide range of collections including menswear, womenswear, accessories, skinwear, fragrance, eyewear, footwear and watches.
Seeing Japan to be its growth driver in Asia, Ted Baker will be looking for expansion opportunities throughout the country, said Kelvin.
Ted Baker is also present in other Asian markets including Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia.
