French luxury brand Dior has opened its biggest flagship store in the world in Taipei’s 101 mall. The 19,410 sqft boutique is in the mall at the foot of the famous Taipei 101 landmark tower. The boutique simulates the architecture of the 17th Century yet with modern day features such as private elevator and modern architectural elements. One of the boutique’s hallmarks – and of appeal to Taiwan’s upper crust customers – is a large VIP space where customers can enjoy privacy and discretion while choosing personal items and gifts.
The boutique houses three ready-to-wear salons, Dior Couture, two levels of Dior Homme and a shoe room. The first level offers watches, fine jewellery, leather goods and handbags.
Highlights also include an Oyoram video which live streams videos synced with other Dior stores worldwide.
Commenting during the opening day, Dior CEO Sidney Toledano said: “You have several generations now of Taiwanese entrepreneurs with a very high level of taste. They don’t just buy something because it’s a brand and because it’s in fashion. They buy because they look to invest in a high-quality product.”
Dior’s breadth of commitment to nearby Greater China will see larger store openings in the region and the expansion of its existing stores, including its Hong Kong boutique, in the future.
Meanwhile, in the same week, Italian luxury brand Salvatore Ferragamo opened a boutique at Shinkong Mitsukoshi Xinyi Place A4 while British luxury fashion house Burberry launched its first flagship store in Taiwan, also at Taipei 101. The Burberry Taiwan flagship, with a stunning Burberry Retail Theatre featuring a giant flat screen LED TV on the wall, is also its world’s largest boutique.
