Alibaba promotes French brands

E-commerce giant Alibaba has forged a deal with the French government to help French companies boost sales in China.

Alibaba has signed a memorandum of understanding with UBIFRANCE, French government’s business development agency and Invest in France Agency that will see Tmall provide express enrollment support for French companies over the next three years.

Tmall.com will also help French brands and merchants with online promotion and marketing support.

“This agreement is a wonderful opportunity to allow more and more Chinese customers to discover new French brands through a modern system of distribution,” said French foreign minister Laurent Fabius.

“It will significantly widen the choice of French products available for Chinese consumers who will enjoy their well-deserved reputation of high quality and security,” he said.

Alibaba founder and chairman Jack Ma said the agreement is an example of how Alibaba Group can work hand-in-hand with foreign trade entities to expand global cross-border trade in order to benefit both global businesses and Chinese consumers through its marketplaces.

Tmall.com will launch a campaign called The Elegance of France showcasing exclusive product launches and limited edition products from over 30 French brands.
