Zara teams with Tmall

Spanish fashion brand Zara is expanding its China reach by teaming up with Tmall, the online marketplace.

Zara has opened its own store on Tmall, joining other global retailers including Asos, Burberry, Gap, Uniqlo and sister brands Pull&Bear and Bershka to take a share of the nation’s e-commerce sector.

“We believe that Tmall offers a great opportunity to expand Zara’s e-commerce offering in China and are confident that we will be able to reach Tmall’s extensive online audience while maintaining Zara’s brand image,” Zara’s spokesperson told China Daily.

The brand also runs its own online store in China in addition to its 152 physical stores.

Zara is owned by Inditex which competes with Swedish retailer H&M, which also plans to set up an online store in China this year.
