Molteni&C Japan opens second flagship in Osaka
Molteni&C Japan’s second furniture and lighting flagship store has opened in Osaka.
The brand’s first opened in Tokyo last year as part of a 10-year partnership with distribution company Arflex Japan.
Covering 400 sqm, the latest store is on the first floor of the award-winning Benetton Shinsaibashi Building and draws its design inspiration from a spacious, western home. It features a terrace along one wall and a sophisticated lighting system.
Visitors follow a sensorial pathway marked by light and shade, the store’s delicate tones highlighted with flashes of colour.
High-impact features include transparencies created by wide windows, a graphic hallmark of architect Vincent Van Duysen, who is creative director of both Molteni&C and Dada Kitchens. Sophisticated and natural materials in the store include glass, oxidised wood and resin, stone and sand. Warm greys alternate with luminous touches of colour.
Dada’s VVD kitchen dominates the terrace overlooking the main street.
