Lotte Vietnam launches ‘TV supermarket’

Korea’s Lotte Group has entered a new venture in Vietnam – a supermarket on TV called Lotte DatViet Homeshopping.

A Seoul-based subsidiary of Lotte Shopping, Lotte Homeshopping which operates an internet retail web portal and a cable TV shopping channel, has signed an agreement with Vietnamese company DatViet VAC Group Holdings for a 85:15 joint venture worth US$6 million.

“The company will provide consumers with new shopping convenience by building a true supermarket on television,” said Yong Ho Shin, general director of Lotte Datviet Homeshopping.

Lotte DatViet Homeshopping is to be aired 24 hours on HTVC of HCMC Television and VCTV14 of Vietnam Cable Television. Customers can purchase the products by calling a toll-free telephone number 1800-1533 and products will be delivered free to them after two days.

As a broader appeal to the market, Lotte Datviet Homeshopping will also offer guidance, maintenance, after-sale services and a refund/exchange policy within seven days.

Since its inception in 2001, Lotte Homeshopping has become a leading online retailer in South Korea.

Lotte Group also operates Lotte Mart, Lotte Cinema, Lotteria and Lotte Pie in Vietnam.
