7-Eleven HK’s ‘favourite brand’

7-Eleven has been voted as favourite among more than 1000 brands in Hong Kong.

Market research consultancy BDRC Asia survey among consumers aged 18-55 who voted for their favourite brands across more than 100 consumer product and service categories including banking, fashion, hotels, airlines, restaurants and electronics.

Pharmacy chain Watsons and coffee retailer Starbucks also made the top 10.

The top 10 brand list is compiled from the total number of individual votes across all the categories. The findings were revealed at an event in Hong Kong by international brand marketing and promotional programme Superbrands.

Hong Kong’s Top 10 2013 Superbrands are:

  • 7-Eleven
  • Yahoo
  • Visa
  • Ocean Park
  • Watsons
  • Tai Koo
  • Lion & Globe
  • Starbucks
  • Sony
  • Energizer

“7-11 is an integral part of Hong Kong life, it’s such a busy consumer city. We’re all rushing from one place to another. 7-11 is pervasive and it fits into the way Hong Kong people’s lives,” said Superbrands CEO Mark Pointer.

BDRC’s research also gauged consumers’ awareness of the Superbrands programme:

  • Nearly 60 per cent of consumers agree that the logo is a statement that the product and service must have a good reputation.
  • 88 per cent of consumers state that they would be more likely to buy a product or service if they saw it as a Superbrand.
  • 76 per cent are more likely to pay a price premium for products and services with a Superbrands logo.
  • 82 per cent of consumers would be more likely to try a new product or service if it was a Superbrand.
  • 77 per cent of consumers stating that they would be more likely to recommend a product or service with a Superbrands logo.

Pointer says being deemed as Superbrand means a brand has a great reputation and that consumers trust it.

“Marketing expert and author Seth Godin once said that ‘the most trusted brands are the most profitable’ so being a Superbrand is an amazing accolade indeed,” said Pointer.
