Dunkin’ Donuts to close Taiwan stores

US-based donut and coffee chain Dunkin’ Donuts will progressively close all of its 19 outlets in Taiwan in the first quarter of this year, Focus Taiwan reports.

The closures follow the termination of francise agreement with its local partner Mercuries and Associates, it says. The chain entered Taiwan in 2007 and ran 30 outlets during its peak, but the chain has trimmed back to just 19 currently, due to poor sales.

Dunkin’ Donuts says it plans to find another franchisee which can represent the brand and see it return to the market.
