Goubuli to buy US cafe chain

Chinese food chain Goubuli says it is in final discussions over the purchase of an American coffee chain.

Zhang Yansen, Goubuli board chairman, said: “The negotiations have entered the final stage. It’s not convenient for us to disclose the details.”

Goubuli declined to name the chain, which it said has hundred of shops worldwide. It plans to use the coffee chain to promote Chinese food overseas.

Established in 1858 in Tianjin, Goubuli is famous for its stuffed buns. It operates more than 30 fast food outlets in China. It also has stores in Japan through franchise route.
