Korean online shopping mall Lotte.com has launched a new payment service for Chinese customers.

Lotte.com has partnered with Alibaba’s Alipay to attract more Chinese consumers by enabling them to pay for purchases with Alipay’s cross-border payment solution.

“After a month of trials with Alipay, we have confirmed our overseas payment system works as smooth as silk. Now, customers in China will be able to shop for Korean goods from the comfort of their home,” confirmed a Lotte.com spokesperson.

“We are now able to provide more convenient and safer shopping environment for Chinese customers by implementing Alipay’s online payment system.”

Managed by conglomerate Lotte, Lotte.com has nearly 15 million registered members.

Alipay has an existing partnerships with online retailers Japan’s Rakuten and the UK’s Asos.
