Wingstop plans 100 Indonesia stores

Texas-based chicken restaurant chain Wingstop plans to open 100 outlets across Indonesia in seven years.

The first of those has been opened by local franchisee PT Mega Mahadana Hadiya at Kota Kasablanka mall in Jakarta.

The next locations will be at Setiabudi Building (Jakarta), Bintaro Xchange Mall (Banten) and Margo City (West Java).

President and CEO Charlie Morrison believes Indonesia will become Wingstop’s biggest market in Asia. His high hopes for the market stem from its huge population, growing GDP and the fact that chicken is a big part of the Indonesian diet.

“I think the potential is here for Indonesia to lead the Wingstop brand in Southeast Asia,” he said.

Wingstop has also entered the Philippines, opening the first of 50 restaurants initially planned for the country.
